French courgettes are nice and firm and it won’t be long until the English starts.

Salads:

Once again the weather has caused problems.
The iceberg, little gem, cos etc have all been hit hard subject to very heavy rain.
English celery is well behind this year and we constantly having to switch where we buy from, to make sure it’s available.
Spring onions have suffered quite badly and are going wet and slimey quite fast.
Water cress is going to be very difficult in the near future. We’ve been cut down on our orders every day recently and we’ve switching from French to English and Italian to make sure what we have is the best available.
Most other salad products have not suffered from any real changes.

Fruit:

Local English strawberries have now started and are superb.
Peach, nectarine, plum, cherries and apricots are all much more plentiful now.
Spanish melons are well with us now but the quality doesn’t seem to be as good as last year’s crop.
All the berries are now more plentiful and good quality.
Oranges and lemons still remain very tight and difficult to source.
All the berries are now more plentiful and good quality.

Star fruit and passion fruit are very nice at the moment.
Paw paw has got a little better recently.
Hass avocados are a big problem at the moment as they are all cutting black inside.
Air freight mangoes are still very good at the moment.
Kohl rabi seems to be more popular this year.
Banana leaves have also become another popular choice.
