MARKET REPORT - Wednesday 28th August, 2007 (24-Sep-07)

Nothing has really changed in market since last week which we need to inform you about ...

We will be starting Local Galia Melon and Cherentais shortly and they will last for 2-3 weeks all being well. Yes, they're LOCAL GROWN and they are delicious.

On a negative note, we would just like top pre-warn you that Dairy and cheese prices are being pushed up due to demand (Dairy production is rising by 1% each year whereas the demand for it is rising by 3% each year). Further information on this matter will be provided in September's newsletter.

Prepared Broccoli and Cauliflower is also now available now that the prices are steadier and all of our Carrots are now coming in freshly washed, direct from Norfolk.

We have recently started New Season Jerusalem Artichokes and they are very good at the moment but are quite expensive. Our Turkish Black Figs have also now started and are very good, though they too are a little more expensive.

We have started to use New Crop "President" Plums which are very tasty. English Raspberries are hit and miss at the moment, we will have to buy foreign if we cannot find any good quality English, and the price on Lemons has recently been increased due to the current short supply.
